About the Author

Born in a big family, Kara Hofstede had a difficult time seeing her value and ways to "fit in." It seemed all of the talents had been given out in her family and she was forgotten. Struggling with dyslexia, she had little interest in her academics with the exception of storytelling and doodling. Kara was told by an art teacher that she had zero potential to develop any artistic skills, so she hid her talents for many years afraid of what people would say. She surprised everyone and earned a degree in Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University. Having struggled with learning and self-confidence, she was inspired to pursue a career in Education and became an Elementary Art Teacher. Kara Hofstede now writes and illustrates professionally from her home in Tomball, Texas, where she, her husband, and daughter reside.
